Regarding our upcoming reunion, we have integrated a general itinerary into the program. We will explore fascinating topics such as:The reasons why Livorno attracted Jewish settlers in the late 16th century and how it became an important center of Jewish life and culture in the 17th century. We will also discuss the composition of the community, including the presence of Sephardic, Ashkenazi, and Italian Jews.The role of Tempio Maggiore and other Jewish institutions as centers of Jewish life, and the changes experienced by the Livorno Jewish community in the 19th and 20th centuries, including its rebuilding after World War II.The rich Jewish history of Venice and Jewish life in other northern Italian cities such as Verona, Milan, Turin, and Genoa.

Day 1: Tuesday 24 June
Montecatini Terme

Arrival of family members to the Grand Hotel Tettuccio (4 stars) in Montecatini Terme.

Optional excursion to Pisa (supplement). Departure 12h, return to hotel 7:30pm. Time for lunch (not included).

Must-see attractions around Piazza dei Miracoli and of Jewish-heritage sites such as the Jewish cemetery at the foot of the famous tower and the beautiful synagogue.

Evening in Montecatini Terme: Gala welcome dinner.
Day 2: Wednesday 25 June
San Giminiano Sienna

In the morning, departure to Siena (1h 30min). Guided tour included.

Monte dei Paschi bank, the Piazza del Campo, the Duomo (Cathedral). Free time for lunch at the market square, then visit the Synagogue.

On the way back, visit of San Giminiano, one of the most characteristic medieval Tuscan villages, a UNESCO heritage site, which has remained almost intact from the end of the 14th century to the present day.

Return to Montecatini (1h 30min).

Possible conference and dinner at our hotel.
Day 3: Thursday 26 June
Livorno

In the morning, departure to Livorno (1 h). Jewish-heritage tour, including the old Jewish school (today a small museum) and Modigliani’s birth-house.

Time for lunch (not included).

Visit of the synagogue and of the Jewish community’s archives, with presentation of invaluable documents dating from several centuries.

Visit of the Jewish cemetery (matzevots of well-known 7th-Century Kabbalists and of important families who left a mark on European culture).

Boat tour at sunset of the Little Venice quarter (17th and 18th centuries); cocktail dinner.

OR Return to Montecatini (1h 30min); dinner at our hotel. TBD
Day 4: Friday 27 June
Florence

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Florence, guided tour of the must- sees in Tuscany’s capital (exteriors only): the Piazza del Duomo: the Duomo (Cathedral), the Piazza della Signoria, the Ponte Vecchio, Michelangelo's Esplanade.

Free time for lunch and self-organized visits (suggestions: Uffizi museum, Medicis chapel, Bobboli gardens and Pitti Palace)

Check-in at the Hotel Roma (4 stars), in Piazza Novella.

If time allows it, visit of the Jewish Museum before Shabbat (private opening).

Kabalat Shabbat at the great Synagogue and meeting the Florence’s Great Rabbi (to be confirmed); Kosher dinner at nearby restaurant.
